Members are welcomed and encouraged to observe and participate in up to two Meetings before being required to join the Chesapeake Treasures Chapter of the Smocking Arts Guilde of America (SAGA).
Membership requirements in the Chapter are simple. Each member must serve on one (1) committee throughout the year, participate in the public service project(s), and take part in a fundraiser activity established by the Chapter. In addition, concurrent membership with SAGA is required of all Chapter members and prior to Chapter membership approval. This enables the Chapter to take full advantage of all the educational programs and benefits SAGA has to offer.
Chesapeake Treasures Chapter Library. Membership benefits include access to the Chapter's Library which currently houses many books, patterns, smocking plates, and magazines related to smocking, heirloom sewing, and related needle arts.
SAGA Correspondence Courses. SAGA Correspondence Courses are designed for students who are not able to participate in SAGAs conventions. The courses will enrich the student's knowledge of techniques while working at their own pace.
SAGA Programs. SAGA Programs are designed to share the resources of SAGA members by providing chapters with pre-planned programs that they can adapt to their chapter meetings. The goal of each program may be for education, chapter growth and development, and just plain fun.
Retail Discounts. Membership in the Chesapeake Treasures Chapter and SAGA affords members percentage discounts at local retailers such as Tomorrow's Treasures and Classic Creations in Crofton, as well as many nationwide sewing retailers.
